March TIF..Machine Buttonhole Applique Completed

My, that was tedious!

Buttonholing along the curves was not a problem...but negotiating all those pointy edges in the leaves took awhile!

I used some of the same lace in the frame as I had used in the photograph, and remembered to put it in place right before I started sewing down the leaves in my buttonholing marathon..

Now for "desert"...adding all my little embellishments...

That's just awfully pretty - worth the effort and time.

I really like what you have got started with this piece. I think the applique will add an interesting twist to what you have done in the past.

Tedious maybe but from where I'm sitting I'd say it was worth the effort. I love the way the leave connect the border to the central block and especially the movement they add.

Can't wait to see what you do next.

Looking at it again - I love that piece of lace floating across the top.

Just recently found your great blog. Enjoy checking in to see the progress on this piece.

It's inspired me to get out my CQ UFO's.

Hi Allie,

Well, all that buttonholing may have been tedious, but it sure gave great results! I love the way it gave definition to the stems; they look almost real. What kind of thread did you use? (It looks thicker?) Your TIF block is coming along wonderfully; I can't wait to see it with your embellishments.

One of the reasons I covet a new sewing machine is to have a machine buttonhole stitch capability.
This just might be the prettiest one yet!

You did an amazing job with the machine buttonhole stitching. The leaves really pull everything together. Can't wait to see how you embellish it.

I'm amazed you did that buttonhole on machine! Nice!

I'll be back to see the desert!

What wonderful swirling movement those leaves and lace make. When I first saw this piece I wondered how you were going to bridge the dark center and the light frame, but those leaves are perfect.
